Soils in restricted growing areas like pots and containers often get compacted inhibiting root growth. Give your plants the best possible start with this wonderfully balanced soil mix. Packed full of raw compost, this fluffy mix gives plant roots the perfect balance of air, moisture and nutrition This is the perfect mix soil for your raised garden beds, small pots and shallow rooting vegetable and herbs.

Container plants and seedlings thrive best when they have plenty of drainage and start out in a sterile environment. Hence, Ground Control potting medium is a combination of compost (for nutrients), and drainage materials.

Our potting soil is designed to stay "fluffy" and not compact too much in the challenging environment of containers. A good potting medium won't dry out too quickly but will resist compacting so that the plant's roots can take up water and moisture from their surroundings. The roots must also have access to oxygen, which means that the medium can't be too dense.

USING POTTING SOIL IN POTS

Ensure your pot has plenty of drainage holes and is well cleaned. Fill the pot half way with Ground Control Potting Soil, Place your plant in the centre, gently burying it into the potting soil

Fill around the plant with more soil being careful not to compact it too tightly Leave a gap from the lip of the pot to allow for watering. Water in well.

Note: Do not leave the pot sitting in a saucer of water as this may cause roots to rot (unless specifically required for that plant). Instead, place gravel or decorative pebbles on the saucer and sit the pot on top to allow for drainage.
